Company profile

DURRER Spezialmaschinen AG is a privately owned company with 50 employees, currently managed by the second generation of the founding family.

The origins of the company date back to 1949 when the founder, Franz Durrer, commenced manufacturing machines for special industrial applications. Among the first customers were such well-known names as Swissair, von Roll, Thermoplan and Calendaria. Thanks to the close working relationship with Calendaria in Immensee as well as other companies in the graphical and printing trade (e.g. Biella), DURRER continued to prosper. By the late 1960's the company was already a major player in the print processing business.

DURRER's strengths lie in motion mechanics, drive technology, automation control and software development. This accumulated expertise is put to use in various industrial applications within the company's two Operating Divisions:

DGM – DURRER Graphic Machines Division (DGM) designs, develops and manufactures machines for the international print processing industry.

DIP – DURRER Integral Production Division (DIP) works in tandem with customers in diverse industries to produce       tailor-made solutions.

DURRER is the undisputed market leader for step index production. Its unrivalled range of machines cut, print and lacquer step indexes to make finished products such as diaries, manuals and catalogues easier to use and visually more appealing. DURRER also conceives and builds ingenious machines for wall-calendar production and comb-back binding.

The DGM Division markets machines under the DURRER brand. The DIP Division works hand in hand with the customer from conception to installation or in certain areas only, e.g. engineering or production, the customer deciding the level of collaboration in accordance with his requirements.

DURRER is justly proud of its healthy growth record and reputation as exemplary employer, to which the many long-serving members of its staff bear witness. World-wide sales, Administration, R&D and Final Assembly facilities are located at Küssnacht. Machine component manufacture takes place at Immensee.

The majority of components used in DURRER machines are made in-house. The company furthermore adheres to a strict policy of using only those parts not susceptible to wear and tear. The superior quality and proven reliability of DURRER machines is reflected in the inclusive 3-year warranty which comes with every machine that leaves the premises.

We at DURRER are well aware that satisfied customers are our greatest asset and a prior condition to our future prosperity. Equally, our customers know that we are on call for advice and assistance whenever and wherever they may need it.
